This past month has been so crazy busy, but I am determined to continue working hard to finish strong this year. I have been trying to take the time to be fully present and reflect on this past year and all the blessings that I have received.
My Thanksgiving break was on par with the past month as it was also crazy busy! The first weekend during break, I tried to prepare for upcoming scholarship application deadlines and left to visit Houston. My family and I visited our close friends in the city and attended a campus tour of the University of Houston (U of H). I thought the academic opportunities offered at U of H were very beneficial, however the campus and dorms did not feel right for me personally. I know U of H will make a wonderful home for many students, unfortunately, this doesn’t include me.
When I got back home to Frisco, I had lunch with a college friend back from break and had a great time chatting with her about the past few months. Then, I had a campus and housing tour at UTD the following day. I thought the campus and dorms were nice and enjoyed walking through the campus and seeing all of the opportunities available.
For Thanksgiving, my family and I hosted at our house, and it was a lot of cooking, cleaning, but most importantly, a lot of fun. My cousins and family friends came over and I loved getting to share a delicious meal with those that mean so much to me. It was great to take a mini break from reality and enjoy good food and even better company.
In terms of my ISM progress, I reflected on the interview I conducted with Dr. Larue, wrote an interview assessment over our discussion, and shared it with her. I also asked if she had any potential contacts for me to reach out to and she provided me with a few. This was very helpful and I appreciate her time and willingness to help me! I also scheduled another interview with Dr. Lancaster to further discuss psychology. Additionally, I submitted an EOL for Assessment #9 which was my interview assessment with Dr. Lancaster.
Some action items for me to take is to jumpstart my Original Work plan and finish my Research Speech. I have been conducting and compiling research and information from interviews so I hope to make a rough draft of my brochure soon. I also started my speech so I plan to finish and refine it so that I can practice and work on my slides.
