Weekly Report #1 - New(ish) Beginnings
Coming back to a familiar environment is so exciting! It was great to come back and see my peers again after a fun summer. In my first couple of weeks as an ISM 2 student, I have already started setting goals for myself and preparing for what the new year holds. This week we discussed what the ISM mentoring process looks like and overall expectations for the school year.
Firstly, I created a new resume tailored to my ISM 2 topic: psychology. I switched color themes to feature the color purple because I believe purple will best suit my topic this year as it reminds me of peace and has soothing qualities. I updated my resume with relevant coursework, new leadership opportunities, and volunteer work I did this past summer.
I also completed my Back Wall Decor assignment and included my name, topic, quote and mission statement, and some fun facts about me. I enjoyed designing the wall decor as I incorporated some psychology symbols and let my creativity show. Additionally, I liked picking a new quote and writing a mission statement for my ISM 2 journey to embody my goals for this year. I also created a new website and set up the main tabs and set the color schemes that will align with my ISM 2 personal brand colors.
I chatted with Mrs. Russell and discussed my ISM 2 plans and future plans in psychology. We discussed my excitement to take on more of a leadership role in ISM as well as psychology post-graduate programs. We also talked about the interview and mentorship process this year, and I can’t wait to satisfy my curiosity about certain psychology topics and conduct my own research.
This coming week, we have an upcoming assessment and it will be about our career forecast and include our interview questions. Last year I chose my topic as a passion project and this year I chose my topic to focus more towards my future career. I am so excited to see all that I will do this year!
