Having the time of my Life

I have had so many wonderful experiences these past 2 weeks. I went to the Eras Tour for the second time which was amazing and I took a trip to California. I have loved getting a break from school work and treating myself to some special adventures.

Last week I submitted my Original Work Proposal and outlined what I plan to create this semester. I described how I would like to create a digital brochure that explains what neuropsychology is, its significance, and what a neuropsychologist’s job duties are. I wanted to create this Original Work because I would like to become a neuropsychologist and want to enlighten those who are not familiar with the industry and discuss the importance of assessment in an industry that is saturated with jobs in counseling or therapy. I hope to continue researching cognitive psychology and the specific field of neuropsychology for my Original Work.

I also interviewed our LTHS school psychologist, Mrs. Jennifer Rand, and I learned more about her job description which includes working in the special education department focusing on autism, ADHD, and emotional disabilities. I loved talking with her about the importance of assessment in a career field where counseling is a central practice.

Then I had an interview with Mrs. Jordan Story, an AP Psychology teacher at school. We talked about her background with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and how she had experience counseling students who were thinking about dropping out of college. She talked about how theoretical psychology doesn’t translate well into real life at first and then it becomes applicable as time goes on. I look forward to connecting with her in the future and showing her my work. 

I also continued reaching out to other professionals and scheduled some interviews which is very exciting. I always enjoy connecting with professionals and learning from them. I am looking forward to what’s coming up in ISM!
