Stumbling Gracefully

What a whirlwind week! It was my first week back at school after the holidays and it was fun, but overwhelming to say the least. I was so glad to see my friends and teachers again and looked forward to getting back into a routine with school. However, my week off meant I had some assignments to catch up on and it was hard to juggle my missed assignments with my current ones.  This week in ISM I completed my Original Work Reflection, Evidence Of Learning, and discussed next steps with my mentor, my Original Work Portfolio, and developing a final product in class. 

I worked on my Original Work Reflection this week. I looked back at my Original Work Proposal and went through all of the research and interviews I have conducted, the planning and preparation I have done, and the parts of my Original Work I have done so far. It was fulfilling to reflect on the hard work I completed and it gave me direction for my Final Product (the continuation of my Original Work)

I also did my first Evidence of Learning and chose to do a Research Assessment for it. I chose an article about mass media perceptions and their influence on altruistic behaviors. It was a fascinating article and gave me more insight into how people act on their beliefs and perceptions. I analyzed the expectations that are present for mass media and how trust is crucial for the career field. I believe that as trust increases, so does the desire to seek the information and this contributes to growth of knowledge.

When I got back to class, we discussed many upcoming assignments. We discussed mentorships and how to log information learned during each visit. We also went over what to discuss during the first mentor meeting and the ISM Mentor Handbook. Additionally, I submitted my physical Original Work Portfolio which included all of the work in my digital Original Work portfolio. It was nice to make professional and eye-catching section headings and organize all my completed work. Lastly, we discussed our Final Product and expectations for it. We discussed our Final Product Proposal and I look forward to taking what I have learned and completed already in order to make an excellent Final Product.
