What an exciting week in ISM! This week I got feedback from my mentor regarding my Final Product, got peer feedback on my Final Product, and reached out to middle schools.
I had a quick Mentor Visit on Monday and we went over my Final Product and I gained some feedback from Ms. Berry. She gave positive feedback overall, but said that my presentation was text-heavy and it would be preferable if I condensed some of my slides to help my audience focus on what I was saying. She also told me to rearrange the order of some of the slides to have a more cohesive and structured flow. We also chatted about Final Presentation Night and her tentative plan to come on April 15.
Throughout the week, I had my peers look over my Final Product presentation and applied the feedback they and Ms. Berry gave. I made continual edits to it and made sure to align my pictures with my text and shorten some of the slides to reduce the amount of text on them and make it look more appealing. I feel more confident to present now that I have shorter slides and am able to further elaborate verbally on the topics that I mention.
Additionally, I submitted my Final Product Progress Assessment this week and I mentioned all of the steps that I’ve taken to complete my Final Product. This includes how I have mostly stayed on track with my calendar and the current status of my Final Product which is a refined rough draft. I am still applying last pieces of feedback from peers and Ms. Berry, but I am so close to finishing, yay! I submitted a folder filled with all Final Product related items and it was fun to see the evolution of my learning from the beginning of this semester to now.
Exciting news: I was able to reach out to middle schools with the help of our school principal Mrs. Addo and am presenting in the next couple of weeks! I reached out to Mrs. Addo on Monday to talk to her about the process and on Thursday I was able to connect with the principals at our feeder middle schools. I am very excited to connect with 7th graders and explain to them the importance of media literacy.
I feel very reflective about all of the work that I have done, and can’t believe that I am nearly finished!
