What a busy week! This week in ISM I completed the final draft of my resume and Research Assessment 4. It was also Homecoming week and I had a blast participating in this week’s spirit days and attending our pep rally. Homecoming week is always something to look forward to as I get to spend time with my friends and support the school!
For my resume, I asked my friends and teachers to review it and provide feedback, and they provided great insight. I added a skills section and an achievements section, and included my phone number in the contact information. Additionally, I listed some journalism related skills and achievements and connected more of my resume to my ISM topic. I am so glad I received peer feedback as it helped me include information that I would not have thought about and they gave me invaluable advice.
This week I also finished Research Assessment 4 and some things I enjoyed about this assignment were its personalized aspects and the more in-depth read of an article. The annotation was beneficial as it helped me better reflect at the end and provided a solid foundation for understanding. It provided more reflection and allowed me to think about some ideas for my original work. I believed it helped me narrow down what specific journalistic focus I want to pursue for ISM and I decided to have a mix of scientific journalism and other subjects, taking a multidisciplinary journalistic approach. The article gave detailed information on the influence of journalism on scientific journalism and vice versa.
This week reminded me of the importance of balancing my social and school life and taking the time to relax and be with my support system. One thing I am proud of this week was my ability to make time for myself and progressively work in my assignments, avoiding procrastination.
I’m excited to complete my topic proposal and attend next week’s business symposium, exciting things ahead!
