I am so grateful for this week! Although it was semi-busy in my other classes, this week was one that allowed me to work on my Final Product and other aspects of presenting ISM information, and I was able to have productive conversations with Mrs. Russell and Ms. Berry.
Firstly, I talked with Mrs. Russell about my overall ISM Progress and she gave me feedback for my Display Board and Original Work Portfolio. We chatted about the appearance of my board and I took note of things to keep in mind as we continue to update it before Final Presentation Night. I am glad I was able to talk with her as we prepare for our District Showcase next Friday.
Additionally, I applied Ms. Berry’s feedback to my Final Product Proposal, rearranging some steps in my methodology. I believe that her comments help clarify some key parts to my Final Product, and I am excited to continue creating it with her guidance. I also asked my peers for feedback on my Final Product Proposal and they helped me rephrase parts of it in order to help my audience better understand what I was trying to say. I believe that having multiple people look over my Final Product Proposal helped me further enhance it and minimize errors.
I had a Mentor Visit with Ms. Berry and I reflected on what I learned in my Research Assessment #16 and Evidence of Learning #2. We also talked about the upcoming tasks I had planned for this week. I made notes in my Research Assessment to discuss with her, highlighting the things that most stood out to me while I was reading an article about news games, and discussed this key information with her. I also talked about FOIA requests and how I highlighted their importance and how they contribute to journalistic integrity in my Evidence of Learning #2. I asked her about the topic of data I would like to uncover and she helped me decide to focus on science department spending for last year. This topic will be broad enough to glean valuable information from and will help me be concise as I integrate this information into my Final Product. I also asked her about details that she would like to have included in her Mentor Bio on my website, and hope to update my website soon. Subsequently, I plan to create my staffer survey this week and see what media literacy means to them. As I progress through this journey, I would like to teach my staffers more about media literacy and I hope to see its positive impact on our newsroom.
I am so thankful to have a wonderful support system behind me as I progress this semester. I am glad to be able to talk to Ms. Berry about all of the work I am conducting and have her recommendations as I create my Final Product. I am especially excited to take part in our ISM showcase and talk to others about all of the hard work I have done this year!
