Exciting things brewing...

This week was one built for preparation. This week I submitted my course card for next year and have been in the process of studying and preparing for upcoming tests and our ISM display board gallery walk at school. This week in ISM, I created a calendar, submitted the first draft of my Final Product Proposal, and had my first Mentor Visit. 

I created an ISM calendar through Canva and added key dates such as upcoming research assessments, FISD Showcase day, and Final Presentation night. I enjoyed color coding A and B days and organizing all of the upcoming ISM events. I believe this calendar will help me stay on track to complete my Final Product and help me minimize the possibility of forgetting to complete an assignment. 

I also submitted the first draft of my Final Product Proposal. I started by looking at all of the instructions and writing bullet points of what I envisioned my Final Product to be. I knew I wanted to make changes to my idea of a presentation about the article writing process, however I didn’t know what I wanted to change it to. This changed once I spoke with my mentor Ms. Berry and she gave me great insight, advising me to focus more on scientific journalism. This clarified what I wanted to create, and I am beyond grateful for her input. I also talked with her about the Final Product Proposal outline and she helped me come up with new aspects to add to my presentation. 

Ms. Berry and I had a wonderful first mentor visit. We discussed important ISM dates, our visions for what Mentor Visits should look like, and the synthesis of a Final Product. With her help, I feel more clear and confident in my path in ISM and know that there are only more exciting things on the horizon. I hope to successfully integrate her advice and I am so excited for all we will do this year!
