This week in ISM was a discussion/catch up week. During class, we discussed Original Work Portfolio expectations and had lots of work time for our Research Assessment #13, overall Original Work, and Research Speeches. I feel like I am getting back into a rhythm with school after our Thanksgiving break and I am grateful for the way school pushes me to be better.

This week I finished Research Assessment #13 and chose an article about interviews in the social sciences. This article was very helpful for me as it allowed me to reflect on guidelines to follow during the beginning, middle, and end of the interview process and guidelines to follow. I analyzed how interviews are a tool to collect information and the ability to create something out of data. This stuck out to me because the creative aspect is one of my favorite parts of journalism and it reminded me of the privilege of being able to tell someone’s story. I am excited to use this article in my Original Work and further expand on the interviewing process.

I also scheduled another interview with Ms. Berry as I would like to chat with her more about scientific engagement and the impact of technology in the journalism industry. I am looking forward to connecting with her again and further discussing journalism.

I’m glad I was able to have dedicated work time this week and am excited to work on my research speech and be overall more productive. This upcoming week is to have momentous growth in my research speech and really solidify and put into action what I want to do.
