And So The Journey Begins…

Having just entered into my Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) class, I am certain that this class will help me build a solid foundation for my future! This week in my ISM class I completed my first speech and set up my LinkedIn account and Digital Portfolio. My first speech was an introductory speech and was definitely nerve wracking, but I had so much fun sharing more about myself and sharing my ISM topic to my classmates. I received beneficial feedback which I am looking forward to implementing to improve my public speaking skills. It was also amazing hearing everyone else’s topics and their goals and motivations for this class. Everyone is so friendly and supportive, and I believe we have a great class dynamic.

Also, setting up my LinkedIn account and Digital Portfolio was very interesting as it allowed me to learn how to “market” and “brand” myself in a professional manner. I was able to make my first connections on LinkedIn and list my previous experiences that have impacted me such as my writing experience and the classes I took. My digital portfolio was a joy to create and it is very exciting to set up the website where all of my hard work will be placed. I enjoyed being able to personalize the website with different colors and leave my mark on it.

This week showed me how this class will require hard work and good time management skills, but I cannot wait to embark on this adventure and explore the topic of my choice this upcoming year in ISM!
